Party Bear was the first improv quilt that I made. In the fall of 2022, Heather Kinion taught an online "intro to improv" course, and I began assembling an improvisational bear paw block. As it progressed, I began to add elements that I learned in class. The project brought me a lot of joy, and made quilting feel very playful and challenging to me.
I finished the quilt with a selvedge letter label, which in turned kicked off an entire series of fun projects for me.
